A place to rock in peace II

...the series that never got finished. an appreciation of rock, a critique of elitism. an ongoing slugfest thats between my conscious mind and subliminal intelligence.

*grins*

naw..not a rock fest this time. yours truly has gotten into FMS and he aint the type to sulk after a reject by any college, even a prestigious one like IIMB. but yeah, a few comments on this whole business should be in line with custom. all i want to do today is smash the CAT figurine into a thousand pieces and banish her forever from my life :)

i must admit, i am one of the chosen few in the country who get to be rejected by IIM B this year. the numbers in my brotherhood are roughly 700. pretty amazing chaps, i guess, with one thing in common; a dear john letter (hey!! I dint even get that) from B.

yeh..lets start the fireworks.

CAT...uh! never has been a thing so trivial been made so garguantan that it now spawns an entire industry for providing succour. after passing the ordeal of sitting in the exam room three times in a row and seeing my efforts bear fruit, the last time around..i think i know the secret to CAT..its actually..err..nothing but an exam with a huge (and i mean really huge) marketable value done by the best marketing guys in India. an elaborate setup hyped to the stratosphere so that a casual exam taker is just scared shit-less while sitting in the exam.

even the more serious takers like me go weak in the knees when they used to think about the paper that would come in the exam.always strategizing, thinking about how to attempt and what not to do, minimizing loss making sections, reading smart, not hard.the exam is a test of our managerial aptitude and mental strength..blah blah..what a whole bunch of crap !

i guess somewhere, in all the exam prep that we do, we manage to forget that an exam is primarily about the things we know and the things we dont. either u know how to solve a problem, or u dont. it does not matter which section the problem is from; the point is..its just a question and is to be treated as a question..not managerial claptrap.

i remember coming out of the examination hall in disgusted disbelief..here i was, a stud of quant, who manaed to have a pathetic 13 questions solved in around 40 minutes of section time. whoa! what was that ? i came out of the hall, met a student of mine aho started asking questions. heck, i solved the whole quant paper, verbally ..outside Modern School, Barakhamba road..on a warm afternoon of November the 21st, in a little over 10 minutes.

i have never been so angry in my life (mebbe i have, but a bit of a hyperbole makes good reading)..and then and there, i realized the nirvana that i was seeking so desperately in mock CAT papers..i could solve any damn question that i put my mind to, never mind the bollocks..or the paper. i did not need the so-called "managerial aptitude" to do it. all, i had to do was sit, read and solve. like the flawless machines of german engineering, i was an engine of answers.

and boy!! did i succeed or what. i managed, with distinct pride, to crack all subsequent MBA exams manging calls from the rest of colleges. damn! i was running hot.

...
(slugfest 2 awaited..the author is an irregular blogger and doesnt mind waiting for a couple of months for posting)
